Near the town of South Burley sits a modest farm, which is home to a variety of creatures. Among others that the farmer boards, there are cattle, fowl, sheep, and pigs. Each of these animals has special characteristics, which serve unique purposes. In order to help them fulfill these purposes, the farmer assigned one of his sons, a small boy named Hank, to tend and care for the animals. Initially, Hank assumes that fulfilling his task will be easy, but he quickly learns that he is mistaken. This is due, in large part, to an obstinate cow, whose stated philosophy is: “I will decide what’s true and what’s not. I am what I think. It does not matter what I’ve got.”Throughout the course of this story, the reader will encounter the whimsical beliefs of a silly cow. At the same time, underlying the story is a presentation of the concept of absolute truth—what it looks like, why it is necessary, and how its absence affects the well-being of the soul. Herein is an expression of the dire need of every creature—both within the farm and without—to have a grounded sense of objective truth based solely on the Designer’s intent. Read more
